Hey,
So…
Have a random list of my favourite dystopian, apocalyptic,
si-fi and end-of-the-world type films, here goes:
(This is in no particular order by the way), *coughs*:
Seeking a Friend for the End of the World:
As an asteroid nicknames
‘Matilda’ nears Earth, a man finds himself alone after his wife leaves in a
panic. He decides to take a road trip to reunite with his high school
sweetheart. Accompanying him is a neighbour who inadvertently puts a spanner in
the works. I love this film.
Godzilla:
The world's most famous
monster is pitted against malevolent creatures who, threaten the very existence
of mankind. BEST FILM EVER!
Edge of Tomorrow:
A soldier finds himself
caught reliving the same day over and over again in a war with an alien race.
His skills increase as he faces the same brutal combat scenarios, and each day
he comes a little closer to defeating the enemy. The special effects are
awesome and the acting is great, is that not reason enough to watch it?
Armageddon:
After discovering that an
asteroid the size of Texas is going to impact Earth in less than a month,
N.A.S.A. recruits a misfit team of deep core drillers to save the planet. One
of the three films that can make me cry, but its happy don’t worry. It’s
perfect.
The Island:
A man and woman go on the run
after discovering that they are clones. Enough said.
The Hunger Games/ Catching Fire:
You don’t need me to tell you
what these two brilliant films are about. If you haven’t already watched them
then where have you been for the past two years? Go now and change your
life. Watch. It.
Upside Down:
Adam and Eden fell in love as
teenagers despite the fact that they live on separate planets with gravities
that pull in opposite directions. Ten years after a forced separation, Adam
sets out on a dangerous quest to reconnect with his love. Okay so it isn’t that
great but the original premise was good but after that… well find out for
yourself.
The Matrix/ The Matrix Reloaded/ The Matrix Revolutions:
Again, where have you been? These three films are brilliant.
Watch them.
War of the Worlds:
Well that’s pretty
self-explanatory.
How I Live Now:
An American girl, sent to the
English countryside to stay with relatives, finds love and purpose while
fighting for her survival as war envelops the world around her. It has Saoirse
Ronan in it, i.e. the perfect excuse to watch it.
9/10
